04/10/2024

On April 6th, 2024, at approximately 04:47 am, Parsons Police Officers responded to an alarming report of an Aggravated Robbery at Pump-N-Pete's, at 1430 Main St., Parsons, Labette County, Kansas.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers were briefed that a white male, concealing his identity behind a face mask, had entered the store wielding a semi-automatic pistol. The assailant made demands from the clerk, trying to access the cash register. Despite the clerk's inability to comply, the suspect resorted to violence, discharging a single round from the firearm into the cash register in an attempt to coerce compliance.

During the course of the robbery, the suspect forcibly seized the store, and personal property, including the clerk's purse, as well as lottery tickets, Marlboro Red cigarettes, and Newport cigarettes that were taken from the store. These items were hastily stashed into a white 13-gallon trash can carried by the assailant.

Subsequently, the perpetrator was observed fleeing the scene, heading Southbound on S. 15th St., clutching the stolen goods in the aforementioned trash receptacle.

Chief Robert Spinks said, "This brazen act of violence is utterly reprehensible, and we will not tolerate such criminal behavior in our community. The Parsons Police Department is fully committed to apprehending the perpetrator and ensuring justice is served swiftly."

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'7'' to 5'9'' in height, with dark hair. "We are actively pursuing all leads and collaborating with our law enforcement and civilian partners to bring this individual to justice, and urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist us in our efforts to ensure the safety of our community", said Detective Lieutenant Sherri McGuire. "We implore all residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities promptly."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
